Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026 · Draft pending legal review
This Privacy Policy is currently published in English only. A translated version will follow once our legal review is complete.
1. Introduction
Masar LTD ("Masar," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Masar ride-hailing platform, including the Masar Taxi app (for riders), the Masar Driver app (for drivers), the Masar admin platform, and the website at masar-taxi.com (together, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you.
This Privacy Policy applies to riders, drivers, and visitors to our website. By creating an account or otherwise using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
LEGAL TEAM TO CONFIRM: minimum age requirements for riders and drivers, and any parental-consent language if minors are permitted to use the rider app.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide to us
- Account information: full name, email address, and phone number, provided when you register.
- Profile information: a profile photo, where applicable (currently used for staff and driver identification).
- Driver verification documents: for drivers, a driver's license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, vehicle details (make, model, plate number), and photographs of these documents, submitted for account approval.
- Communications: messages sent through our in-app support chat, and any correspondence with our support team.
- Ratings and feedback: star ratings and optional written feedback left for a driver or rider after a trip.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Location information: your pickup and drop-off locations when you request a trip; a driver's real-time location while online and while a trip is in progress, so we can match drivers with riders and provide live trip tracking.
- Trip information: routes, distance travelled, duration, fare charged, and payment method selected.
- Device and usage information: standard technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, and general usage logs.
2.3 Information from others
If you are matched to a shared ride ("Share & Split"), other riders on that trip and the assigned driver will see limited information about you — see Section 4.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account, and verify your identity via one-time passcode (OTP) sign-in — Masar does not use or store passwords.
- Match riders with nearby available drivers and calculate trip routes, distance, and fares.
- Process shared rides and calculate each rider's fair share of the total fare.
- Enable communication between riders, drivers, and our support team during an active trip or support request.
- Verify driver eligibility, including reviewing submitted licensing, insurance, and vehicle documentation.
- Maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the Services, including detecting and preventing fraud or misuse.
- Respond to support requests and communicate with you about your account or trips.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
LEGAL TEAM TO CONFIRM: any additional lawful-basis language required, and whether marketing communications are or will be offered (Masar does not currently send marketing emails).
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- Between riders and drivers: a rider and driver matched on a trip see only limited identifying information about each other (first name/full name, photo where available, rating, and — for drivers — vehicle details), never full contact details beyond what is needed to complete the trip, such as an in-app call option.
- With service providers: we use trusted third parties to operate the Services, including Supabase (secure database hosting, authentication, and file storage) and Google Maps Platform (maps, geocoding, and route/distance calculation). These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- With Masar staff: authorized administrative and support staff may access account, trip, and support data strictly as needed to operate the platform — for example, reviewing a driver's submitted documents, or assisting with a support request. Staff access to sensitive actions is logged.
- For legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Masar, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: if Masar is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or its successor.
LEGAL TEAM TO CONFIRM: whether Supabase's and Google Maps Platform's own data-processing terms/locations need to be named or attached as sub-processor annexes.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Driver verification documents are retained for the duration of the driver's active status with Masar and for a period after deactivation as required for regulatory or safety recordkeeping.
LEGAL TEAM TO CONFIRM: specific retention periods, particularly for trip/location history and driver documents.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your account and associated personal information (subject to legal retention requirements), and object to or restrict certain processing of your information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@masar-taxi.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.
LEGAL TEAM TO CONFIRM: the specific data-subject-rights framework that applies, and any formal response-time requirement.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including passwordless authentication via one-time passcodes, encrypted data transmission, role-based access controls with an audit log for administrative and staff actions, and restricted access to driver verification documents. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to, and are not intended for use by, children.
LEGAL TEAM TO CONFIRM: minimum age policy — commonly 18 for both riders and drivers on ride-hailing platforms, to be confirmed and stated explicitly.
9. International Data Transfers
Our service providers may store and process information on servers located outside the West Bank and Palestine. Where this occurs, we take steps intended to ensure your information continues to be protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
LEGAL TEAM TO CONFIRM: any specific cross-border data transfer requirements applicable to Masar's operating jurisdiction.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date, and, where changes are material, we will provide additional notice.
